Muscle Nation’s video ad: “One Protein Water to rule them all”

Running 81 daysFacebook and InstagramWinner

How it opens

“We handed @sienna_mallonn our 6 top-selling Protein Water flavours and told her to pick a winner. What followed was chaos.”

Angle: Curiosity

Why it works

It frames a product demo as a mini story with a creator, a task and a mystery result, so it feels like content rather than an ad. Naming the creator and the six best sellers adds credibility and makes the range feel worth exploring. The data also shows it has run 81 days, is still active, and sits across 9 active ads on many placements, which suggests the brand keeps scaling it. I can't see the video itself, so the style calls come from the words and format.

Who it speaks to: Protein and fitness drink buyers who like trying flavours and trust creator picks over brand claims.

How it’s built
  1. Hook: 'We handed @sienna_mallonn our 6 top-selling Protein Water flavours' sets up a challenge with a real creator.
  2. Tension: 'Told her to pick a winner' creates a clear task with a single outcome.
  3. Teaser: 'What followed was chaos' promises entertainment and withholds the result.
  4. Headline: 'One Protein Water to rule them all' pays off the winner idea with a playful line.
  5. CTA: The 'Shop now' button sends viewers to the brand site.
What to borrow
  • Turn a product range into a simple challenge with one clear task, like 'pick a winner', so the viewer waits for the result.
  • Tease the outcome with a word like 'chaos' instead of explaining it, to build curiosity in the first line.
  • Tag a real creator by name so the ad borrows their voice and feels like native content.
  • Close with a headline that pays off the premise in a playful line, then keep the CTA simple.

The transcript

Oh my god I'm so nervous. Normally I'm in a shed and everyone's like shut up idiot and I just get started. I'm here to try the top six protein water flavors. It's going to be called a bracket tournament. I just gotta take my teeth out I gotta say. Normally I use a screwdriver to do my mixing. I did just spit all over my hands. We've got the pineapple flavor, one full scoop. Mango passion fruit. Now I'm not a huge pineapple flavor fan. I feel like I'm coming in biased here. This is so much easier than a screwdriver. Perfect. I've never tried the p-plump. I've never tried the pineapple before but that's more refreshing than I expected. But I feel like maybe I choose the pineapple for this one. I tried this one recently and we've got tropical crush. One scoop of that. Alright. We'll just get this out of the way. Perfect. I like this. I like a sour flavor. Tropical is going to have to do some work. Cola. This is good. This is still good if you like fruity tropical refreshing. The sour in it is a slay. Peach iced tea and we've got lychee. Lychee is number one seller. Alright. So I'll clean it up. This is a disaster. Give them a mix. That's browner than I expected it to be. Sorry. I like the iced tea but I'm a huge iced tea. If you like peach iced tea, I feel like this is actually giving. That is good. It's very fresh. I would probably put a little bit more in that though. I feel like most people... This one's by Bunny Rum so naturally I want something with a lot of flavor in it. This is a really good one. I expected to not like the pineapple and I was pleasantly surprised. The flavor is really good. I still choose sour cola. And I don't even like cola but the sour cola here is really good. All the sour flavors are actually pretty lit. I still reckon on the pineapple. This is so... I literally thought the pineapple was going to be the last one. Third place, lychee. Second place is pineapple and our winner is sour cola.
